A taxi cab stacked with a tower of suitcases or a pile of furniture and home appliances is an odd sight to foreigners. Yet to locals, it is one of the most common occurrences on the streets of Lebanon. How drivers manage to smoothly navigate traffic while carrying the weight of the world on the roof of their cars is the stuff of legends. “Tout Tout 3a Beirut” is inspired by this impressive driving tradition that is unique to Lebanese drivers.
This unique piece was produced in Tripoli for the Play by Minjara Collection, a range of wooden playful objects infused with a sense of Lebanese culture. Play by Minjara emerged from a partnership between Minjara and the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) Design Department at the University of Balamand.
